- CRO staked for a tier is locked for 12 months
Crypto.com Visa Card is a prepaid card topped up from the Crypto.com app. The free Basic tier pays no rewards. In the US, paid Level Up tiers pay 1.5% to 2.5% in CRO for $49.90 to $299.90 a year, and the Private tiers pay up to 4.5% for a $50,000 or $500,000 CRO stake.
Crypto.com runs the card as eight regional programs, each with its own currency, prices and fees. A customer in France pays in euros, one in the UK in pounds, and the Bahrain card is a Mastercard. Pick your country at the top of the page and every table below shows the terms for that program.
Crypto.com Visa Card cashback
Crypto.com Visa Card pays 0% on the free Basic tier, and between 1.5% and 4.5% in CRO on four higher tiers unlocked through the Level Up plan or a 12-month CRO stake.
The US terms show how the tiers work. Plus pays 1.5% on the first $750 of monthly spending, which tops out at $11.25 a month. Pro pays 2.5% on the first $1,500, or $37.50 a month, and above those caps Plus and Pro earn nothing.
Plus costs $49.90 a year (or $4.99 a month) and Pro $299.90 a year (or $29.99 a month). Alternatively you can stake $500 or $5,000 of CRO for 12 months. At the cap, Plus earns $135 a year, so the subscription leaves about $85. Pro earns $450 a year against a $299.90 fee, which leaves about $150 if you spend $1,500 every month.
The Private tiers need a stake, not a subscription. Icy/Rose takes $50,000 of CRO and pays 3.5% on the first $3,000, then 0.5%. Obsidian takes $500,000 and pays 4.5% on the first $5,000, then 1%.
In other regions the stake and subscription prices are set in local currency, so in the EEA Plus costs €39.90 a year or €450 of staked CRO, and Pro €249.90 or €4,500.
Crypto.com Visa Card fees
Crypto.com Visa Card has no monthly fee on Basic, but the physical card costs $4.99 in the US, and payments in another currency carry an FX fee of 2% or 3% depending on the region.
The FX fee is 3% in the US and Australia and 2% in the EEA, the UK, Canada, Singapore and the other programs. Both Private tiers pay 0% FX in every region. In the US, the Plus physical card is free for annual subscribers and stakers.
The other cost to watch is the top-up. The card is prepaid, so you sell crypto in the app to load it, and Crypto.com doesn't publish the spread on that sale. In the US, topping up with a debit card costs 1%, a credit card 2.99% and PayPal 2.1%. A US inactivity fee starts after 12 months without use.
Crypto.com Visa Card ATM withdrawal fees
Crypto.com Visa Card gives each tier a free monthly ATM allowance, then charges 2% on the rest.
In the US the allowance is $200 on Basic, $400 on Plus, $800 on Pro and $1,000 on both Private tiers. A $500 withdrawal on Basic costs 2% on $300, which is $6, plus the 3% FX fee if you're abroad. Other regions use similar steps in local currency, such as €200 on the European Basic card.
Virtual cards work only online, so cash needs the physical card, and the ATM owner may add its own fee.
Is Crypto.com Visa Card safe?
Crypto.com Visa Card is custodial: the crypto you hold in the app sits with Crypto.com, which holds the keys.
For most cardholders the larger risk sits with the CRO stake. Tier stakes are locked for 12 months, and their value rises and falls with the CRO price, so a $5,000 stake for Pro can be worth less by the time it's released. Rewards are paid in CRO too, so their dollar value moves with the same price.
In the US, Crypto.com also sells a separate Visa Signature credit card through Level Up, which is a different product from the prepaid card.
Who should get Crypto.com Visa Card
Crypto.com Visa Card suits people who already use Crypto.com, spend at least $1,500 a month by card and are happy to receive rewards in CRO.
For that spender, Pro returns about $150 a year after the US subscription. For anyone spending less, the caps make the maths weak: at $500 a month, US Plus earns $7.50 a month, or $90 a year, against a $49.90 fee.
The free Basic tier pays nothing, so a free card with even 1% cashback beats it. The comparison below shows the strongest alternatives in your country.
