Cryptomus Card Review: Fees, Cashback and Top-Up Costs

By

Cryptomus Card — Standard

Cryptomus Card suits Cryptomus wallet users who want a cheap virtual card for subscriptions, ad accounts and online shopping, paid for with USDT or USDC. The 3.2% top-up fee makes it expensive for everyday spending, and it pays no cashback.

Good

  • Virtual card costs only $4 to issue
  • Top up with USDT or USDC straight from your Cryptomus wallet
  • Issued in about 5 minutes and usable right after activation
  • More than 10 card BINs to choose from for picky merchants

Watch out

  • 3.2% fee on every top-up, which adds $32 per $1,000 spent
  • No cashback or rewards on purchases
  • Virtual only, with no physical card and no ATM withdrawals
  • Some card types add maintenance or inactivity fees

Cryptomus Card is a virtual prepaid card you fund with USDT or USDC from a Cryptomus wallet. It costs $4 to issue, charges 3.2% on every top-up, and pays no cashback. Cryptomus pitches it for subscriptions, ad accounts and online shopping, and you can also pay in shops by tapping your phone.

The Cryptomus Card works more like a prepaid voucher than a debit card. Your stablecoins are converted to fiat at the moment you top up, and the card then spends that balance, so the price you pay for crypto is locked in before you buy anything.

Cryptomus Card cashback

Cryptomus Card pays no cashback, points or other rewards on purchases.

That puts the Cryptomus Card at a disadvantage against cards that return 1% or more, especially because the top-up fee already costs 3.2%. Even a card with a modest reward rate and a lower loading fee would leave you several percent better off on the same spending.

The case for the Cryptomus Card is access rather than rewards. If you hold USDT or USDC on Cryptomus and need a card number for a service that won't take crypto, it gets you there in a few minutes.

Cryptomus Card fees

Cryptomus Card costs $4 to issue and charges 3.2% each time you top it up, which is the main cost for anyone who uses the card regularly.

Because every dollar you spend has to be loaded first, the top-up fee works like a spending fee. Loading $500 for a month of subscriptions costs $16, and $2,000 of monthly spending costs $64, or $768 over a year.

Cryptomus also lists payment or conversion fees that vary by card, and optional maintenance or inactivity fees on some card types. The exact amounts depend on the card you choose, and Cryptomus shows them before you use it, so compare a couple of options before you commit.

Cryptomus doesn't publish a foreign transaction fee on its card page. If you plan to pay in currencies other than the card's own, check that line in the app as well.

Getting the card takes three steps: register on Cryptomus and pass KYC, pick the card that suits the merchants you pay, then top it up with USDT or USDC. Cryptomus says the whole process takes about five minutes, and you manage balances and transaction history in its app for iPhone and Android.

Cryptomus Card ATM withdrawal fees

Cryptomus Card can't be used for ATM withdrawals, because it is a virtual card with no physical version.

If you need cash from your crypto, you'll need a different card with a plastic version. The Cryptomus Card is built for online checkouts and phone payments only.

Cash withdrawals aren't supported.

Is Cryptomus Card safe?

Cryptomus Card is custodial: the USDT or USDC you top up with sits in your Cryptomus wallet, and Cryptomus holds the keys.

On the payment side, every Cryptomus Card transaction is approved through 3D Secure, so nobody can pay online with your card details without your approval in the app. Cryptomus also requires identity verification from all users, and it says it runs a dedicated vulnerability testing team and hosts its servers in certified data centres.

A custodial wallet is only as safe as the company behind it, so it makes sense to keep only what you plan to spend on the Cryptomus Card and in the wallet that funds it.

Who should get Cryptomus Card

Cryptomus Card suits people who already keep stablecoins on Cryptomus and need a virtual card for subscriptions, ad platforms or online stores that don't accept crypto.

The $4 issuance fee is low, and the choice of more than 10 BINs helps when a merchant or ad network declines one card range. For a handful of payments a month, the 3.2% top-up fee is a small price for that flexibility.

For everyday spending, the Cryptomus Card is a poor fit, because $1,000 a month costs $32 in top-up fees with nothing paid back. The comparison below shows cards in your country with lower fees and cashback on top.
