TapxCard Review: Fees, Cashback and Card Prices

TapxCard — Visa E-commerce

Visa E-commerce

TapxCard suits people who want a virtual Visa for online subscriptions and Apple Pay or Google Pay, paid for with crypto and opened with only a phone number. The 30 USDT card price and the 3.5% fee on every top-up make it an expensive everyday card, and it pays no cashback.

Good

  • Visa E-commerce card needs only phone number verification
  • Works with Apple Pay and Google Pay for paying in shops
  • No monthly fee on either Visa card
  • Visa Universe has a $1,000,000 monthly limit

Watch out

  • Card prices of 30 USDT or 199 USDT before you spend anything
  • 3.5% fee on every top-up of the Visa E-commerce card
  • No cashback or rewards on any card
  • Virtual only, so no ATM withdrawals

TapxCard is a crypto-funded virtual Visa card sold through a web app and a Telegram bot. The Visa E-commerce card costs 30 USDT once, the Visa Universe card costs 199 USDT, top-ups cost 3% to 3.5%, and neither card pays any cashback.

TapxCard aims its cards at people paying for online services such as Google, OpenAI, Microsoft, Meta, Shopify and AWS, and both Visa cards can be added to Apple Pay or Google Pay for contactless payments in shops. You buy a card with crypto, top it up from the dashboard, and the balance sits on the card until you spend it.

TapxCard cashback

TapxCard pays no cashback on either of its Visa cards, so every payment costs its face value plus the top-up fee.

There is no rewards programme, points scheme or token to hold, and the only bonus TapxCard mentions is a referral scheme for bringing in other users. That keeps the comparison simple: the card has to win on access and convenience, because it can't win on rewards.

The gap is easy to measure. At $1,000 of spending a month, a free card paying 1% would return $10 a month, while the Visa E-commerce card would cost $35 a month in top-up fees and return nothing. Over a year that difference grows to $540.

TapxCard fees

TapxCard charges a one-off card price and a percentage fee on every top-up, with no monthly fee on either Visa card, according to TapxCard's cards page.

The Visa E-commerce card costs 30 USDT and charges 3.5% on each top-up, so loading $100 leaves you paying $3.50. It has no monthly spending limit and a $20,000 limit per payment. Payments under $1 carry a $0.10 authorization fee, larger payments carry none, and each 3D Secure check costs $0.03.

The Visa Universe card costs 199 USDT and charges 3% on top-ups, but it adds a $0.50 authorization fee to every payment. The lower top-up fee only pays for itself on large purchases: half a percent of a payment equals $0.50 at $100, so below an average payment of about $100 the Universe card costs more to use than the E-commerce card, before counting its 169 USDT higher price.

Both cards need a 10 USDT first top-up, which lands on the card balance. TapxCard doesn't list an FX fee for payments in other currencies, and the web app warns that the issuer can add its own transaction and FX charges depending on the country and currency. The E-commerce card also charges $0.80 if more than 10% of your payments are declined, so it pays to keep enough balance on the card.

TapxCard also sells a Mastercard Business card for 50 USDT with a 3.5% top-up fee, which is meant for business spending such as team cards and ad accounts.

TapxCard ATM withdrawal fees

TapxCard doesn't support ATM withdrawals, because every TapxCard is a virtual card with no plastic version to put in a cash machine.

If you need cash from crypto, a card with a physical version and a published ATM fee will serve you better than any TapxCard plan.

Cash withdrawals aren't supported.

Is TapxCard safe?

TapxCard is a custodial service: once you top up, the balance sits on a card account that TapxCard controls, not in a wallet you hold the keys to.

TapxCard says it uses multi-factor authentication and segregated custodial accounts to protect balances. Its marketing site doesn't name the company that runs TapxCard, the bank that issues the Visa cards or the country it is regulated in, and the terms of use are shown only inside the app.

The app's rules also warn that the card issuer, not TapxCard, decides on blocking cards, and that TapxCard doesn't guarantee getting your money back if an issuer freezes a card. Payments in sanctioned countries are blocked. Treat a TapxCard balance as spending money and keep larger amounts in a wallet you control.

Who should get TapxCard

TapxCard suits people who need a virtual Visa for subscriptions, ad accounts and online services, and who want to open one with just a phone number and pay for it in crypto.

The Visa E-commerce card is the sensible starting point for most people. It costs 30 USDT, needs no passport, and charges no per-payment fee on purchases of $1 or more. The Visa Universe card only makes sense for people who make large payments, want a monthly limit of $1,000,000 and are willing to pass a passport and face check.

For everyday spending, the 3% to 3.5% top-up fee is the main reason to look elsewhere. A free card with no conversion fee and 1% cashback would leave you $45 better off on every $1,000 spent compared with the Visa E-commerce card. The comparison below shows cheaper options in your country.

TapxCard doesn't publish a full country list on its website, and the app says each card has its own list of restricted countries. Sign-up runs through the web app or the Telegram bot, so you can check whether your country is accepted before paying for a card.
