Wirex Card Review: Fees, Cashback and WPAY Tiers

By

Wirex Card — Base

Wirex Card suits people outside the US who are happy to hold WPAY, with 0% FX on every tier and cashback from 0.5% to 8%. How much cashback you can take out each month is set by your WPAY holdings, so the higher rates pay off only with a large WPAY position.

Good

  • 0% FX fee on every tier, according to Wirex
  • No subscription fee and no lock-up for any tier
  • Cashback paid in US dollars, not in a volatile token
  • Available in 73 countries, including the UK and most of Europe

Watch out

  • Monthly redemption is capped at 7% of your WPAY holdings
  • 8% cashback needs a $50,000 portfolio with 10% in WPAY
  • The free Base tier gets a virtual card only, with no ATM access
  • Not available in the US or Canada

Wirex Card is a crypto debit card linked to a Wirex One account. There's no subscription fee and no FX fee. Cashback runs from 0.5% on the free Base tier to 8% on Bespoke, and your tier depends on your portfolio size and how much of it you hold in Wirex's WPAY token.

Wirex moved to this model, called Wirex One, in mid-2026, replacing its old paid subscription plans. Tiers are recalculated every day, nothing is locked up, and cashback is paid in US dollars. The limit that matters is on the way out: how much cashback you can redeem each month depends on how much WPAY you hold.

Wirex Card cashback

Wirex Card pays a flat 0.5% to 8% cashback with no earning cap, depending on which of five tiers your portfolio qualifies for.

Each tier needs a minimum portfolio and a minimum share of it in WPAY. Premium pays 1% and needs $500 with 1% in WPAY, which is $5 of WPAY. Elite pays 3% and needs $2,500 with 3%, or $75 of WPAY. Private pays 5% on $25,000 with 5%, and Bespoke pays 8% on $50,000 with 10%, which is $5,000 of WPAY.

Earning is uncapped, but redeeming isn't. Wirex's litepaper sets monthly redemption at 7% of your WPAY holdings in dollars, so $100 of WPAY unlocks $7 of cashback a month, and unused rewards roll forward.

Here's what that means at the Elite minimum. 3% on $2,000 of spending earns $60 a month, but $75 of WPAY only lets you redeem $5.25 of it. To take out the full $60 each month you'd need about $857 in WPAY. A Base member holding no WPAY has no monthly redemption power under that formula.

Wirex Card fees

Wirex Card charges no subscription fee and, according to Wirex, 0% FX on every tier, using the interbank rate with no markup.

That makes the card cheap for spending abroad. Wirex doesn't list a spread for card payments made from crypto such as BTC or ETH.

The card itself depends on your tier. Base gets a virtual card only, Premium and Elite get a plastic card, and Private and Bespoke get a metal card. Wirex doesn't publish the plastic card's delivery fee, and the metal card is free on Bespoke.

Spending limits are €30,000 a month on the virtual and plastic cards and €75,000 on the metal card, and Wirex notes that limits may vary by region.

Wirex Card ATM withdrawal fees

Wirex Card's free Base tier can't withdraw cash, because its virtual card has no ATM access.

The higher tiers come with free monthly allowances: $250 on Premium, $750 on Elite and $2,500 on Private, while Bespoke has unlimited free withdrawals. Wirex doesn't publish the fee once you go over the allowance.

Physical and metal cards are limited to €750 a day and €5,000 a month at ATMs. For most people on Premium, $250 a month covers occasional cash needs.

Is Wirex Card safe?

Wirex Card is self-custody according to Wirex: the Wirex One account uses onchain wallets that Wirex says you own, with no seed phrase to manage.

Wirex's litepaper says keys are protected with multi-party computation and trusted execution environments, so the full key is never exposed, and that assets stay accessible onchain even if Wirex disappeared. You don't hold a seed phrase yourself, so recovery depends on that setup.

The card side is not self-custodial. Wirex runs the ID check and issues the card as a Visa and Mastercard principal member, so spending with the card depends on your Wirex account staying open.

Who should get Wirex Card

Wirex Card suits people outside the US who spend abroad and don't mind holding some WPAY.

The 0% FX fee is the strongest part of the card on every tier. For cashback, the useful tiers are Premium and Elite. If you already have $2,500 in crypto, putting $75 into WPAY gets you 3%, but you'll need to hold far more WPAY to actually redeem it each month.

Private and Bespoke only make sense if you're comfortable with $1,250 to $5,000 held in WPAY alone. If you'd rather not hold WPAY at all, the free Base tier earns 0.5% with no ATM access. The comparison below shows alternatives in your country.
