e.PN Card Review: Fees, Cashback and Top-Up Grades

By

e.PN Card — Standard

Standard

e.PN Card suits media buyers and heavy online spenders who fund payments with crypto and need a choice of US, European and Latin American card BINs. For everyday spending the 6.7% top-up fee on the Standard grade, the monthly card price and the lack of cashback make it one of the most expensive cards to run.

Good

  • Top-up fee falls from 6.7% to 3% as monthly spending grows
  • Card price drops from $4 to $2 a month on the Black grade
  • Choice of Visa and Mastercard BINs from 102 bank ranges
  • Works with Apple Pay and Google Pay for in-store payments

Watch out

  • 6.7% fee on every card top-up on the Standard grade
  • Each card costs $4 a month on Standard, $48 a year
  • No cashback or rewards on any grade
  • Not open to US residents, and no ATM withdrawals

The e.PN Card is a virtual prepaid dollar card that you fund with crypto through an e.PN account. It costs $4 a month on the Standard grade, charges 6.7% on every top-up to the card and pays no cashback, though both fees fall as your monthly spending rises.

e.PN is built for people who pay for advertising on Google, TikTok and other platforms, but it also sells cards for subscriptions, online shops and travel bookings. You choose a card from more than 100 bank ranges in the US, Europe and Latin America, on Visa or Mastercard, and can issue several cards from one account.

e.PN Card cashback

The e.PN Card pays no cashback on any of its five grades, so its only reward for spending more is a lower top-up fee and a cheaper monthly card.

Grades are set by how much you spend on your cards in a 30-day period. Standard is where everyone starts, Silver needs $1,000 of spending, Gold needs $10,000, Platinum needs $50,000 and Black needs $100,000. If you stop spending, e.PN moves you back down to a lower grade.

The missing cashback matters less here than on an everyday card, because the fees are far larger than any reward. Even a 1% cashback card returns $10 on $1,000 of spending, while the e.PN Card's Standard top-up fee on the same amount is $67.

e.PN Card fees

The e.PN Card's main cost is the top-up fee, which is 6.7% on the Standard grade and falls to 6%, 5%, 4% and 3% on the higher grades.

You pay the fee when you move money from your e.PN account onto a card, so it works like a charge on everything you spend. Loading $1,000 on Standard costs $67, and the same amount on Black costs $30. Card top-ups start at $1, and the e.PN account itself needs at least $50 per deposit.

Each card also has a price that renews every month: $4 on Standard, $3.50 on Silver, $3 on Gold, $2.50 on Platinum and $2 on Black. On Standard that's $48 a year for one card. e.PN charges the renewal three days before the card's renewal date and can block the card if your balance can't cover it, so an account with several cards needs a little money left over each month.

On top of e.PN's own fees, the issuing banks pass on small fixed charges for payments, refunds and declined transactions, and some special card ranges add a percentage on foreign payments. The app shows the exact fees for each card range before you issue a card, so check them before you pick one.

Declines are worth avoiding, because e.PN can charge for each declined payment and fine accounts that repeatedly try blocked merchants. Gambling, crypto purchases, brokerage top-ups and payment services such as Skrill are all off limits.

e.PN Card ATM withdrawal fees

The e.PN Card can't be used to withdraw cash at ATMs, because it's a virtual card for online and wallet payments only.

The only way to turn the balance back into money is to withdraw from your e.PN account, which costs 5% with a $100 minimum and has to be done within 30 days of the deposit. Moving money from a card back to the account is free but can take up to 30 days, so load cards with what you expect to spend rather than a large float.

Cash withdrawals aren't supported.

Is e.PN Card safe?

The e.PN Card is custodial: your crypto is exchanged into a dollar balance held in your e.PN account, and Digital Waves Ltd. in Seychelles runs the service.

e.PN's card terms describe the company as an intermediary between the customer and the banks that issue the cards, and say it isn't responsible for customer funds if a bank blocks them. e.PN doesn't name a banking licence of its own, and the banks behind each card range aren't named on its site.

Identity checks are mandatory before you can issue or fund a card, and e.PN reviews merchants, transaction patterns and the countries you pay in. Its terms also rule out chargebacks, so a dispute with a merchant is yours to settle. Keep the account as a spending float rather than a place to hold savings.

Who should get e.PN Card

The e.PN Card suits media buyers and online businesses that pay for ads or software with crypto and need cards from a specific country or bank range.

For them the grade system pays off: at $10,000 a month of ad spend the Gold grade cuts the top-up fee to 5%, and at $100,000 the Black grade's 3% saves $3,700 a month compared with Standard. Multiple cards per account and team management help agencies that run many ad accounts.

For personal spending the numbers don't work. At $500 a month, a Standard card costs $33.50 in top-up fees plus $4 for the card, which adds up to $450 a year with nothing back. A card with no top-up fee and some cashback would cost a fraction of that, and the comparison below shows the options in your country.
