Kazawallet Card Review: Fees, Cashback and Top-Up Costs

By

Kazawallet Card — Basic

Kazawallet Card suits people who hold USDT or USDC in Kazawallet and want a virtual Visa for subscriptions, software and online shopping. It costs $15 or $20 to open, every top-up loses at least 1.5%, and it pays no cashback, works only online or through Google Pay, and isn't offered in the UK.

Good

  • No monthly fee on either card, only a one-time $15 or $20
  • Tops up straight from USDT, USDC or a USD balance
  • Google Pay works on the card for contactless payments
  • Daily top-up and spending limits of $200,000

Watch out

  • Every top-up costs 1.5% or 1.6%, with a $1 minimum
  • 2% FX fee on payments in other currencies
  • No cashback, no physical card and no ATM withdrawals
  • No Apple Pay, and not available to UK residents

Kazawallet Card is a virtual Visa card that you top up from a Kazawallet wallet with USDT, USDC or US dollars. It costs $15 once for the Basic card or $20 for the Plus card, charges 1.5% or 1.6% on every top-up and 2% on foreign-currency payments, and doesn't pay cashback yet.

Kazawallet is a multi-currency wallet that holds over 15 currencies and several cryptocurrencies, and the card is the way to spend that balance at online merchants such as Netflix, Amazon or OpenAI. Both cards are virtual only, so there's no plastic to order and no cash machine access, and both work through Google Pay for contactless payments in shops.

Kazawallet Card cashback

Kazawallet Card doesn't pay any cashback today, on either the Basic or the Plus card, and Kazawallet's card page lists cashback as coming soon.

That puts the card behind most crypto cards that charge a fee to get in. A card with a one-time cost and a top-up fee on every load only pays for itself when it earns something back, and the Kazawallet Card currently earns nothing, so every dollar you spend through it costs at least 1.5%.

The two plans differ in where they're issued and how widely merchants accept them, not in rewards. Basic is a US dollar card issued in Hong Kong. Plus is a Singapore dollar card issued in Singapore, which Kazawallet describes as the higher tier with wider merchant acceptance, and it costs $5 more to open.

Kazawallet Card fees

Kazawallet Card has no monthly fee, but it charges a one-time activation fee, a percentage on every top-up and 2% on payments in other currencies.

The activation fee is $15 for Basic and $20 for Plus, paid from your wallet balance in USDT, USDC or dollars. You also need at least $10 for the first top-up, and Kazawallet allows one card of each type per user.

The top-up fee is the cost you'll feel most. Basic charges 1.5% and Plus charges 1.6%, both with a $1 minimum, so a $10 top-up costs $1, which is 10% of the amount, while a $200 top-up costs $3 on Basic. Loading larger amounts less often keeps the fee close to 1.5%.

Payments in a currency other than the card's own add a 2% FX fee. The Basic card is in US dollars, so a payment in euros or pounds pays 2%. The Plus card keeps its balance in dollars but is set to Singapore dollars, and Kazawallet uses that card currency to work out the FX fee, so Plus users should expect the 2% on payments that aren't in Singapore dollars.

A replacement card costs $5, and closing the card costs $1, taken from your wallet balance. Kazawallet says any money left on a cancelled card returns to the wallet within up to 30 business days, so it's worth spending the card down before you close it.

For someone who spends $200 a month online in dollars on the Basic card, the first year costs $15 to open plus about $36 in top-up fees, which comes to around $51.

Kazawallet Card ATM withdrawal fees

Kazawallet Card can't be used at ATMs, because Kazawallet's card terms say ATM withdrawals aren't supported for virtual cards.

Kazawallet says cash withdrawals could come if it launches physical cards, but it hasn't given a date, so anyone who needs cash regularly will want a second card.

Cash withdrawals aren't supported.

Is Kazawallet Card safe?

Kazawallet Card is custodial: your money sits in your Kazawallet account and on the card, and Kazawallet and its card partners control it.

The platform is run by KASROAD LTD, a company registered in the United Kingdom under number 16721888. Kazawallet states that it isn't a bank, a card issuer or a licensed custodian, and that the cards come from third-party issuers and BIN sponsors that it doesn't name on its card page. Your balance doesn't carry the protection of a bank deposit.

On the card itself, details are locked behind a 6-digit PIN, hide again after 60 seconds, and online payments use 3D Secure codes sent by email. You can freeze the card in the app at any time. The card terms also allow Kazawallet to suspend a card for compliance reasons, and they ban loading the card from any outside source such as card-to-card transfers or Visa Direct, which can lead to the card being closed.

Who should get Kazawallet Card

Kazawallet Card suits people who already keep USDT or USDC in Kazawallet and need a virtual Visa for subscriptions, software and online shopping in dollars.

For that use the Basic card is enough. It costs $15 once, and as long as you top up in amounts of $100 or more, each load costs 1.5% and payments in dollars carry no FX fee.

For travel, foreign-currency shopping or rewards, the card is weak. Paying in another currency costs 1.5% to load plus 2% FX, there's no cashback to offset it, and there's no Apple Pay or physical card. The comparison below shows cards with lower fees in your country.
