Nexo Card is a crypto Mastercard that works as a credit card backed by your crypto, or as a debit card that spends it. There's no monthly or annual fee. In Credit Mode it pays 0.5% to 2% back in NEXO tokens, but only if you hold more than $5,000 in assets with Nexo.

Nexo runs the card as two programs: a euro card for the EEA and nearby countries, and a pound card for the UK. Both work the same way, but the free ATM allowances are set in each currency. Pick your country at the top of the page and every table below shows the terms for that program.

Nexo Card cashback

Nexo Card pays 0.5% to 2% back in NEXO tokens on Credit Mode purchases, depending on your Nexo loyalty tier, and nothing in Debit Mode.

According to Nexo's card page, cashback needs an account balance above $5,000. From there the rate rises with your tier: Base pays 0.5%, Silver 0.7%, Gold 1% and Platinum 2%. The higher tiers depend on how much of your portfolio you keep in NEXO, Nexo's own token.

You can take rewards in bitcoin instead, but the rates drop to 0.1%, 0.2%, 0.3% and 0.5%. On €1,000 a month of Credit Mode spending, Platinum pays €20 in NEXO or €5 in BTC, and Nexo publishes no monthly cap.

Below $5,000 there is no cashback at all, and the virtual card only needs a $50 balance.

Nexo Card fees

Nexo Card has no monthly, annual or inactivity fees; the costs are FX on foreign currencies and interest when you spend in Credit Mode.

FX depends on the currency and the day. On weekdays, payments in EEA, UK or Swiss currencies cost 0.2% and all other currencies 2%. At weekends those rise to 0.7% and 2.5%. A €100 purchase in Polish złoty on a Tuesday costs €0.20, while the same amount in US dollars on a Saturday costs €2.50.

In Credit Mode you borrow against your crypto at rates from 1.9% a year, with no fixed repayment schedule. At the lowest rate, carrying €1,000 for a month costs about €1.58 in interest. Base cashback on that €1,000 is €5, so about three months of unpaid balance cancels it even at the lowest rate.

In Debit Mode, Nexo doesn't publish the spread for converting crypto at checkout. The virtual card is free, and the physical card is free with free shipping once you reach Gold or Platinum.

Nexo Card ATM withdrawal fees

Nexo Card gives a free monthly ATM allowance that grows with your loyalty tier, from €200 on Base to €2,000 on Platinum, then charges 2%.

Silver gets €400 and Gold €1,000. In the UK the allowances are £180, £360, £900 and £1,800. On Gold, a €200 withdrawal is free, and one ATM visit a week stays within the allowance.

Nexo doesn't publish a free allowance for accounts below $5,000. ATM owners may still add their own charge.

Is Nexo Card safe?

Nexo Card is custodial: Nexo holds the crypto you spend or borrow against, and the card itself is issued by DiPocket UAB.

In Debit Mode the card spends from your Nexo Savings Wallet, and you can set which assets go first. In Credit Mode nothing is sold at checkout, so your crypto stays in the account as collateral, and assets not used as collateral keep earning interest.

Credit Mode carries the usual risk of a crypto-backed loan. If prices fall, the borrowed amount becomes a larger share of your collateral, so repay balances regularly and keep your borrowing well below your holdings.

Who should get Nexo Card

Nexo Card suits existing Nexo customers in Europe with more than $5,000 in assets, especially those already holding NEXO tokens for Gold or Platinum.

At Platinum, 2% in NEXO with no cap and €2,000 a month of free ATM withdrawals make it one of the more generous cards for heavy spenders. Travellers inside Europe also benefit from the 0.2% FX fee on EEA, UK and Swiss currencies.

For anyone under $5,000, or who doesn't want to borrow, the card pays nothing back. The comparison below shows the strongest alternatives in your country.
